Beyond Carnism is a US-based, international organization dedicated to exposing and transforming carnism, the invisible belief system that conditions people to eat certain animals. Beyond Carnism is the first and only organization that focuses exclusively on carnism, making it a pioneering and landmark institution and a hub of international carnism-awareness activity. Our programs and campaigns are innovative and powerful, and have a significant global impact. Beyond Carnism is the parent organization of the Center for Effective Vegan Advocacy (CEVA), whose mission is to increase the impact of vegan advocacy worldwide. CEVA offers on-site trainings, organizational consulting, grants, and a strategy resource center.

Position Overview

The Beyond Carnism Communications Coordinator will oversee and coordinate all Beyond Carnism’s external communications and fundraising activities, helping to improve and grow our social media presence, increase funding opportunities, and enhance public engagement with our carnism-related work. Tasks include developing social media strategy and content, managing social media pages and profiles, producing media reports, and developing and overseeing fundraising outreach campaigns. The Communications Coordinator will also review and revise internal communications when necessary, to help ensure messaging is consistent and clear. The successful candidate will have excellent English communication skills, and will ideally have a background in professional (English) writing. They will also be committed to the Beyond Carnism mission.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and oversee external communications
• Develop and implement social media strategy
• Develop and manage fundraising outreach communications
• Manage the Beyond Carnism online community
• Oversee, collect, and help improve social media metrics
• Review and revise internal communications when necessary

Required Skills and Experience

• A minimum of two years of experience in communications or a related field (writing, editing, etc.)
• An excellent eye for and commitment to detail
• Excellent English written and verbal communication skills
• Knowledge of fundraising communications and public relations
• Thorough knowledge of carnism and animal rights, and a familiarity with other social justice issues
• Strong commitment to the mission and values of Beyond Carnism
• Willingness to take on different responsibilities and tasks as needed
