Energy Analyst
1 year contract – 4 days per week – based in Berlin
CAN Europe, Europe's largest coalition working on climate and energy issues, is currently seeking a highly motivated and dynamic colleague to join our team in Berlin as an Energy Analyst. The successful candidate will contribute to our collaborative effort of our NGO network - active all over Europe - to phase out coal in Europe and prevent the building of any future coal power plants or
mines. This position will offer the successful candidate an opportunity to be at the centre of one of the most exciting European NGO campaigns that will positively affect people and the planet for centuries to come.

Required qualifications:
• At least 3 years of work experience, of which 2 years proven working experience as data analyst
• Experience with energy data analysis and a good knowledge of European energy markets
• Database management and maintenance
• Good at synthesizing complex data for non-data experts, summarizing key findings for different audiences
• Experience with MS Access software, programming complex queries, SQL and dealing with large and complex datasets
• Ability to comfortably manipulate data in MS Excel and using complex formulas, including familiarity with pivot, makros etc
• Fluent in English
• Strong affinity with the goals and values of CAN Europe

Preferred/desirable qualifications:
• NGO work experience
• Knowledge of utilities, climate and energy policies, industrial pollution policies

Day-to-Day duties will include:
• Maintenance, updating, expansion of Access database
• Manipulating data with Excel
• European coal power station tracking
• Analysis and synthesis of trends and findings on coal for internal and external audiences
• Monitoring and analysis of energy market developments, deducing implications for NGO strategies

This position is linked to a specific grant and is currently limited to a contract of one year with intention of extension. Remuneration for the job will be between €2.800 - €3.000 gross/month (80%)(depending on experience) subject to German taxes. To apply, please send a letter of motivation and
