Plant-for-the-Planet is an international network of children and youth, who are planting trees and giving presentations around the world to increase awareness of the Climate Crisis and to push for action against it.


We are currently seeking PROGRAMME COORDINATORS(freelance with part time hours)

in NORWAY (principally in Oslo / Trondheim)


THE ROLE

You will, with assistance from our international secretariat, organise Plant-for-the-Planet Academies, our one-day workshops for children aged 9-12. By doing so, you will help the attending children (Climate Justice Ambassadors) to empower each other to get active to save their futures.

You will be supporting the Climate Justice Ambassadors in developing their own action plans, in planting their first trees and in learning the art of public speaking.

You will generate media coverage for the children’s activities and invite well known personalities to the Academies to make our award winning “Stop talking. Start planting.” photographs with them.

You will be responsible for all aspects of the local organization of Plant-for-the-Planet Academies:

• Planning the academy incl. tree planting and working to meet the wishes of the organisations sponsoring the Academies.
• Ensuring the Academy is well organised, advertised and attended
• Working with the children, parents and teachers throughout the Academy planning.
• Working together with foresters and local authorities
• Moderation of the Academy and building up a small team to help you.
• Timely provision of reports, pictures and participants lists.
• Small translations


WORKING HOURS AND SALARY

As this is a freelance position, there are no set hours, but a willingness to work on weekends is essential. The role would particularly suit undergraduates or recent graduates who would like to get hands-on with a trend-setting environmental organization. Payment is according to our international remuneration scheme.



YOUR PROFILE

• You have an interest in environmental issues and in the education of children. Ideally you also have pedagogical experience.

• You are able to communicate fluently in Norwegian. In addition, you can speak English. German language abilities would be an advantage.

• Ideally you are educated to a university level, or you are an undergraduate in a relevant field of study. Experience in event organization would be a distinct advantage.

• You are a self-starter, reliable, flexible, results driven and can think outside of the box.

• You have outstanding interpersonal skills and are conscientious and well organized.
